The Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) has set a clear roadmap for 2026, prioritising participation and strong performances at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar.

During its recent Annual General Meeting, the UOC confirmed plans to send approximately 55 athletes to Glasgow, competing in athletics, boxing, swimming, judo, cycling, netball, 3x3 basketball, para powerlifting, weightlifting, and other disciplines, with special attention given to gender balance and a significant number of female athletes in the team.

The committee also confirmed active preparation for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, targeting sports such as badminton, basketball 3x3, rowing, boxing, and swimming. A top UOC official said: "2026 is a busy and important year. We are not only aiming to win medals but also to expose our young athletes to high-level competition. Investment in preparation, mental health support, and proper logistics will be key."

The committee is working with national federations to identify and nurture talent while addressing challenges such as funding and training facilities, with partnerships with government and private sponsors expected to play a major role.
