Two journalists working with Next Media Services have died in a fatal road crash along Entebbe Road, while a third remains in critical condition. Badru Kasirye and Isaac Ndamagye died at the scene in the early hours of Friday, 7 August 2026. Their colleague, entertainment journalist Brian Ssemanda, popularly known as Makona, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Kisubi Hospital, where he is receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit. According to Uganda Police, the accident occurred at about 2:00 a.m. at Namulanda near the Stabex fuel station. It involved a Toyota Allex registration UA 779DE carrying the three Next Media staff and a Toyota Hilux registration UAS 976W. Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver of the Hilux, which was travelling from Entebbe towards Kampala, lost control and drifted into the opposite lane, resulting in a head-on collision. Next Media Services confirmed the deaths and asked for privacy for the families of the deceased and for Makona as he continues treatment. The three had reportedly been returning from covering a celebrity boxing event. Police have extended condolences to the families and colleagues of the deceased and wished Makona a quick recovery. Investigations into the exact cause of the crash are ongoing.
