Police are investigating a tragic domestic incident in which a Kenyan mother allegedly stabbed her five children at their home in Kalungu Zone, Bunga, Ggaba Parish, Makindye Division, early on Thursday, 20 August 2026. Two of the children died. Khadija Daizy, 14, was found dead in her bedroom. Her sister, Hawa Dalena, 7, later succumbed to her injuries at Nsambya Hospital. Three other siblings, aged 13, 8 and 5, survived with stab wounds and remain hospitalised. The suspect, identified as Dorothy Namayo, 43, a Kenyan national and mother of the victims, was also found injured at the scene. She is admitted at Mulago National Referral Hospital under police guard. According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, a housemaid was awakened around 4:00 a.m. by cries for help from the children. Upon opening the house, she discovered several children with severe stab wounds. During the incident, a Toyota Hiace van parked at the residence was set on fire and completely destroyed. Firefighters recovered a jerrycan suspected to have contained petrol. Police have registered cases of murder, attempted murder and arson at Kabalagala Police Station. Statements have been recorded from witnesses as investigations continue to establish the full circumstances and motive. Neighbours and the housemaid indicated that the attack followed ongoing domestic disputes between the woman and her husband, with some reports linking tensions to the husband’s alleged second marriage. Police have not yet confirmed the exact motive. The incident has left the community in shock. Authorities continue to provide medical care to the surviving children while the suspect remains under close guard. King Musah Media extends condolences to the family of the deceased children and hopes for the full recovery of the survivors.
