The Ugandan rugby fraternity continues to honour the legacy of the late Wafula while domestic leagues in rugby and other disciplines show steady growth and improved standards.

Wafula's contribution to rugby development, particularly in youth and community programmes, remains a reference point for many clubs and schools, with memorial events and tournaments keeping his vision alive and inspiring a new generation of players.

Meanwhile, local rugby leagues are becoming more competitive, with better-structured clubs, improved refereeing, and increased sponsorship. Other disciplines such as basketball, netball, and volleyball are also recording higher participation and better-organised competitions at regional and national levels.

"We remember Wafula's dedication. His work laid foundations that we are building upon today. The growth in local leagues across sports shows that Uganda has huge potential when structures are right," a rugby administrator said. These developments complement Uganda's preparations for major multi-sport events on the horizon.
