— Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja on Friday led government representation at Watoto Church in Bweyogerere as the Buganda Kingdom marked the 33rd anniversary of the coronation of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.

The colourful #Amatikkira33 celebrations brought together cultural leaders, government officials, clergy, and thousands of Baganda subjects to honour the Kabaka’s enduring reign and contributions to peace, development, and cultural preservation in Uganda.

Dressed in traditional attire, PM Nabbanja was warmly received as she arrived for the commemorative service. The event highlighted the strong synergy between the central government and traditional institutions in fostering national unity and community development.

Significance of Amatikkira33

Kabaka Mutebi II ascended the throne on July 31, 1993, restoring the Buganda Kingdom’s cultural monarchy after years of abolition. Over the past 33 years, he has spearheaded numerous initiatives in education, health, agriculture, and youth empowerment through the kingdom’s structures, significantly impacting millions of subjects across Buganda and beyond.The anniversary celebrations serve as a moment of reflection on the Kabaka’s visionary leadership, which emphasises moral values, land stewardship, and harmonious coexistence.
