Cavendish University Uganda has conferred degrees and diplomas on 1,059 students drawn from 33 nationalities during its 15th graduation ceremony held at Speke Resort Munyonyo. The ceremony, held under the theme “Graduating Global Talent for Employment, Entrepreneurship and Impact,” celebrated the Class of 2026. Of the graduands, 703 received bachelor’s degrees, 285 earned master’s degrees, 61 graduated with diplomas and one received a certificate. The class comprised 577 male and 473 female students. Chancellor of the University and former President of Nigeria, H.E. Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, challenged the graduates to look beyond titles and wealth and instead pursue meaningful impact. “Graduation is not merely a destination; it is a summit,” he said. He called on the Class of 2026 to be employable in skill, entrepreneurial in mindset and impactful in purpose, urging them to “go forth into the global arena.” Jonathan emphasised that a university qualification carries a responsibility to apply knowledge in service of humanity and to create meaningful change wherever graduates find themselves. Guest of Honour and Minister for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives Sanjay Gokaldas Tanna challenged the graduates to become problem-solvers and value creators rather than simply job seekers. Vice Chancellor Dr Olive Sabiiti noted the university’s growing international footprint and revealed that Cavendish had introduced a virtual graduation clearance system developed by its Registry and Information Technology departments. The ceremony marked another milestone for the private university as it continues to position itself as a regional hub for higher education with a focus on producing graduates ready for employment, entrepreneurship and societal contribution.
