The Bamasaba community has officially launched the 2026 Imbalu Cultural Festival at the Mutoto Cultural Grounds in Mbale City. The event marks the start of the biennial traditional circumcision season, one of the most cherished rites of passage to manhood among the Bamasaba. The season is expected to run across clans in the Bugisu region until December. NUP Acting President and Manjiya County MP John Baptist Nambeshe attended the launch. In his remarks, he called on the community to unite and focus on development alongside the cultural celebrations. The launch featured traditional music, dance, and the initiation of candidates, drawing large crowds to the historic Mutoto site. Leaders and cultural figures present emphasised the importance of preserving the heritage while strengthening community bonds. Imbalu remains a central identity marker for the Bamasaba, combining ritual, celebration and social responsibility. Organisers and local leaders have stressed the need for safe and orderly observances throughout the season. King Musah Media will continue following the 2026 Imbalu activities across Bugisu.
