The Shs84.3 trillion National Budget for Financial Year 2026/27 officially took effect this month, with government releasing first-quarter funds and focusing on full monetisation of the economy through commercial agriculture, industrialisation, and digital transformation.
The budget, presented in June by the Ministry of Finance, aims to grow the economy and create jobs, with key priorities including infrastructure projects, value addition in agriculture, and expanding services. As implementation begins, ministries are aligning activities with approved appropriations.
Business stakeholders are closely monitoring cash flow releases and tax measures for their impact on private sector growth in the months ahead.
