The Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Henry Musasizi, together with the Minister of State for Planning, Amos Lugoloobi, have challenged Enterprise Uganda to leverage digital platforms to expand its reach. The call was made during a meeting with the Board of Management of Enterprise Uganda, led by Board Chairperson Richard Byarugaba and Executive Director Charles Ocici. The discussions focused on the institution’s contribution to entrepreneurship development and its role in advancing Uganda’s private sector-led growth agenda. Enterprise Uganda, established 25 years ago with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is the country’s leading provider of entrepreneurship development and Business Development Services. Musasizi commended the organisation for its contribution to private sector development and recognised the Board’s commitment to strong corporate governance. He emphasised the need to deepen post-training mentorship and provide continuous business support that enables entrepreneurs to build sustainable enterprises. Lugoloobi called for stronger monitoring, evaluation and transparent reporting to demonstrate impact and attract greater public and private investment. He also recommended integrating entrepreneurship education into secondary schools, universities and tertiary institutions, and proposed orientation programmes for newly elected Members of Parliament on financial management, investment and wealth creation. The ministers reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting Enterprise Uganda as a strategic partner in promoting entrepreneurship, enterprise growth and inclusive economic transformation.
