The Inspector General of Government, Lady Justice Naluzze Aisha Batala, has ordered the immediate interdiction of seven senior Parliament officials facing corruption charges. In a directive issued on Friday, the IGG instructed Clerk to Parliament Adolf Mwesige to suspend Chris Ariko Obore, Director of Communications and Public Affairs, together with six others. The officials are Daniel Adilo (Director of Human Resource), Rajab Kaaya Ssemalulu (Principal Research Officer), Okwi Emmanuel Emuron (Principal Protocol Officer), Vincent Otebata (Capacity Development Officer), Leonard Okema (Executive Secretary, Office of the Speaker), and Stella Itute (Office Supervisor, Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms). The seven were arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Court on 1 July 2026 and charged with embezzlement and causing financial loss. They remain on remand at Luzira Prison.

The IGG stated that public interest requires the officials to step aside from their duties while the criminal proceedings continue. The directive is grounded in Article 230 of the Constitution and Section 13(6) of the Inspectorate of Government Act. According to court documents, the group is accused of diverting public funds between 2023 and May 2026, with the alleged financial loss running into tens of billions of shillings. The Inspectorate emphasised that the interdiction is necessary to protect the integrity of Parliament and uphold due process.
