Police have arrested the prime suspect in the fatal assault of veteran musician and Afrigo Band founder Moses Matovu, following a joint operation that led to a crime scene reconstruction in Kibuli over the weekend.

The main suspect, identified as Vincent Arnold Nsamba (also known as Sitenda), a private security guard, was apprehended in Nansana, Wakiso District, several hours after the incident. A second suspect, Rose Tusiime, is also currently in police custody to assist with ongoing investigations.

Crime scene reconstructed. On Saturday, senior officers from the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) led both suspects back to Kibuli Market Zone B in Makindye Division to re-enact the events of the early morning of 24 September, when the 77-year-old icon sustained fatal injuries. During the exercise, detectives recovered several exhibits, including a concrete paver believed to have been used in the attack and clothing worn by Nsamba, all of which have been submitted for forensic examination.

Investigating the details. According to preliminary police reports, Matovu had attended a farewell event earlier in the evening before proceeding to a bar in Kibuli and subsequently to Tusiime’s rented room, where an altercation took place. While grief-stricken fans and industry peers have called for swift retribution, law enforcement officials emphasized that all leads and physical evidence are being carefully evaluated to establish the facts before filing formal charges.

Matovu was rushed to Kibuli Hospital immediately after the confrontation but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. King Musah Media will continue to follow this story as police prepare the case file for submission to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
