Why this course is relevant
Hypertension, diabetes, chronic lung disease, and related conditions are rising across Uganda. Most lifelong care happens in primary care — not only in specialist wards. This course prepares students and health workers to screen, counsel, support adherence, and organise follow-up for common NCDs.
What you will gain
- Understanding of major NCDs and risk factors
- Hypertension and cardiovascular risk in primary care
- Diabetes detection, lifestyle, complications, and foot care awareness
- Asthma, COPD, cancer awareness, and multimorbidity
- Practical lifestyle counselling and self-management support
- Screening, registers, team roles, and referral systems
Important
Prescribing and complex management require authorised clinical training. This course builds knowledge and primary-care decision frameworks; it does not replace medical or nursing clinical programmes.
